Harassment and Discrimination Protections in NIH Training Applications - (July 2019)

Applications for National Institutes of Health (NIH) institutional training grants (T15, T32, T34, T35, T36, T37, T90/R90, TL1, TL4) must include a letter on institutional letterhead signed by a key institutional leader that describes the institutional commitment to ensuring that proper policies, procedures, and oversight are in place to prevent discriminatory harassment and other discriminatory practices. This policy applies to applications submitted for due dates on or after January 25, 2019.  The specific section in which the harassment and discrimination protections can be found is in NOT-OD-19-029.


NIH & AHRG Announce Upcoming Updates to Application Instructions and Review Criteria for Research Grant Applications  - (September 2018)

The purpose of these Notices is to inform the biomedical and health services research communities of planned updates to application instructions and review criteria language for grant applications submitted for due dates on or after January 25, 2019:

NIH Loan Repayment Program (LRP) Guide Notices - FY 2019  (June 2018)

NRSA Stipends, Tuition/Fees and Other Budgetary Levels - FY2018 (May 2018) 

NIH has released NOT-OD-18-175 which establishes stipend levels for fiscal year (FY) 2018 Kirschstein-NRSA awards for undergraduate, predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees and fellows. In addition, the Training Related Expenses and the Institutional Allowance for postdoctoral trainees and fellows have been increased.

Next Generation Researchers Initiative (June 2017) 

On June 8, 2017, NIH announced the Next Generation Researchers Initiative to enhance funding to early-stage and mid-career investigators and help stabilize and strengthen the biomedical research enterprise. This initiative shifts NIH's approach away from the Grant Support Index to more directly support early-stage and mid-career investigators. We will be developing FAQs and issuing updated policies in the near future. In the meantime, learn more through:
