Biographical Summary

Jisoo Lee is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Section on Clinical Genomics and Experimental Therapeutics (CGET) at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). She earned her Ph.D. in Pharmacology at Georgetown University where she studied a molecular pathway of activity-dependent Amyloid Precursor Protein processing in Alzheimer’s disease using in vitro cell cultures and in vivo animal models. She has focused on her postdoctoral work on investigating the effects of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) on neuroinflammation and emotional and behavior changes induced by chronic alcohol exposure using animal models of alcohol use disorder (AUD). She hopes to understand the underlying mechanism of AUD and to find a new pharmacological target in alcohol dependence.
