Biographical Summary

Dr. Perruccio is a cell biologist and program director in the Division of Metabolism and Health Effects at NIAAA. Prior to joining NIAAA, Dr. Perruccio was a program director at the National Institute of Nursing Research where she oversaw a grant portfolio that advanced health equity through biological, epidemiological, and clinical research.  As a program director at the National Cancer Institute, Liz oversaw basic science research grants and managed national U54 programs focused on cancer control and prevention. Dr. Perruccio conducted post-doctoral research at the National Cancer Institute where she investigated the cellular and molecular mechanisms of angiogenesis and cancer development, and at the National Eye Institute her work focused on the differentiation and survival of retinal cells and neurons.  Dr. Perruccio began her federal career as a regulatory scientist in the Center for Veterinary Medicine, Office of New Animal Drug Evaluation at the FDA where she conducted independent review of investigational new animal drug (INAD) applications. Dr. Perruccio holds a MS in Basic Medical Sciences and a PhD in Cell Biology and Anatomy from New York Medical College.
