Special Volunteer
Chung-An Fang, M.D.
Biographical Summary
Tommy joined the LNI as a special volunteer in August 2019. He received B.S. in Biological Sciences and Interdisciplinary Program Certificate in Biotechnology from the National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan and M.S. in Microbiology & Immunology from the National Taiwan University, College of Medicine, where he studied tumorigenesis induced by Epstein-Barr virus latent infection. He did neurosurgery clerkship rotation in the Massachusetts General Hospital in March 2019 and obtained M.D. degree from the Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan in June 2019. His previous research included morphology analysis on neurons under ACE inhibitor treatment and exploration of molecular mechanism underlying observed cell fate reversing and neurite regrowth effects. Currently, he is working on novel radiotracer development for opioid use disorder. His works focus on using MicroPET imaging technique to assess feasibility of newly developed PET tracers for opioid receptors imaging on murine models. Tommy is interested in restoration of dysfunctional neural circuits. He plans to pursue residency training in neurology or neurosurgery.
