Postdoctoral Visiting Fellow

Abhishek Basu, Ph.D.

Focus Area

Alcohol use-related pathophysiology of the immune system; Immunology; lung and vascular functions; metabolism; Molecular Pharmacology; translational research

Biographical Summary

Dr. Basu is formally trained as a pharmacologist. Dr. Basu has four years of industrial experience in translational cancer research, functional modulations of tumor-associated immune cells, and bioassay development. Currently, he is working as a postdoctoral fellow (visiting fellow) in the Section on Fibrotic Disorders (SFD) at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), National Institutes of Health (NIH). His current research focuses on the role of the endocannabinoid system in the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis particularly focusing on the immune regulations in the lungs. His long-term career goal is to work as an independent researcher to create and translate novel, improved solutions that can lead to durable responses in the clinic.
