Research Training and Career Development

Research Training and Career Development

NIAAA supports a variety of training and career development opportunities for individuals, from predoctoral to early professional careers, to cultivate a talented and diverse workforce for alcohol research. NIAAA also funds T32 and T35 institutional training programs to enable academic research institutions to recruit trainees at predoctoral or postdoctoral levels to meet the nation’s needs for alcohol research. The information for each training program is available in the links below. For NIAAA’s research priority, please visit our strategic plan.

Research Training at NIAAA Intramural Laboratories

NIAAA’s Division of Intramural Clinical and Biological Research (DICBR) conducts research on the impact of alcohol use and misuse, to identify the causes and consequences of excessive alcohol consumption, and to understand the underlying biological processes at the molecular, cellular, and whole organism levels. DICBR participates in the NIH-wide research training programs(link is external) administered by the NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education to offer research training opportunities at NIAAA for individuals from undergraduates to postdoctoral fellows.

Learn more about NIAAA’s intramural research programs: visit the Division of Intramural Clinical and Biological Research (DICBR) or contact Intramural Training Director Dr. Vijay Ramchandani(link sends email) at vijay.ramchandani@nih.gov(link sends email).vijay.ramchandani@nih.gov(link sends email).
